The Spring/Summer 2003 edition of Freshlook Magazine ONLINE is still a work-in-progress, but we are so excited about about this issue that we are posting what we have so far! Check back soon for lots more content and tons of photographs! In this issue you will find:
Color Its back for Spring! Bold colors are striking out for the warm days ahead. Bright and soft pinks are center stage, as well as orange, bright blues and greens, fushia, and don't forget white-the anchor for the season-clean and crisp. Say bye bye to your old friend black-just for one season. Chinoiserie/Asian Inspired Think short and slim for the Spring with a traditional Asian look with a very modern appeal. Shiny satin and silk make these short dresses great for evening. Kimonos made a splash on the runway, worn with minis and skinny pants. Look to Mui Mui and Tom Ford for Gucci to find your Asian stand out piece for Spring. 50's Julianne Moore's characters in Far from Heaven and the Hours were sure to influence this season's pretty 50's look. Simple and elegant, this look is great as a head to toe ensemble-from crop-sleeved jackets to open-toed pumps. To update the look, jackets are a bit more fitted, but the pencil skirts have stayed true. Check out Marc Jacobs and Louis Vitton for your 2003 versions of these 50's classics. Surfer Chic Don't be afraid of this free-spirited look. Surf was up on the runways with bikini chic and Chanel surfboards. Wet suit dresses, neoprene gear of all sorts, cut off cropped tees, as well as wearable beach and surf prints. Tracy Feith showed some beautiful dresses with Hawaiian print and Prada got skimpy with their surf looks. Rocker/Metal Microminis, ripped jeans, hardware, gladiator inspired chain mail gear, grommet laden dresses and buckle lined pants were all over the runway this season. Metallic (not the band) shined all over from make-up to the new Prada sandals and accessories galore. It's a little Glam rocker influence and if used sparingly, can add a lot of zing to your look. Cargo/Utility Chic A more casual take on Spring, this years cargo look is an easy to wear style that is durable as well. From canvas to cotton to even satin, the range is wide and the pants are just below the knee. Plenty of pockets and grommets and buckles and snaps, you can even go without a bag. Dolce & Gabbana lead the way, along with Tommy Hilfiger. Preppy Society Girl Get out the tennis gear for Spring 2003. Remember the alligator (Izod) with the collar flipped up? And the seamless crisp Bermuda shorts? A very feminine look, these pretty patterned dresses stand alone with simple gold jewelry and wooden round handle bags. The colors are very sweet in whites, reds, pinks, and blues. Go for a pinstripe skirt straight from Lacoste or a Seersucker jacket by Anne Klein. Color
