This classic technique is helpful in decreasing tension and pain while increasing circulation and relaxation. Swedish massage ranges from very light to quite firm in pressure. This is often given as a full body massage, and is excellent for those just entering the world of massage therapy. DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE- is a series of techniques including myofascial release and trigger point therapy designed to relieve severe tension in a specific muscle or muscle group. This is a very intense therapy designed for athletes, those with chronic stress or repetitive motion injuries, and “weekend warriors”. It is vital for the client to communicate with the therapist during this treatment. This is often given as part of a Swedish massage, for a full body deep tissue treatment is not recommended. SPORTS MASSAGE- is a combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue techniques designed to decrease pain and inflammation, while increasing range of motion and muscle recovery from athletic training and performance. This is recommended for athletes at all levels, from professional athletes to those beginning a fitness regimen. ONCOLOGY MASSAGE- is a special therapy designed for any phase of the cancer journey. Through diagnosis, treatment, surgeries and survivorship, this massage changes to suit the needs of the patient in the moment. This therapy may help with nausea, neuropathy, digestive issues, and muscle discomfort from the various treatments of cancer. PREGNANCY & INFANT MASSAGE- are designed specifically for each client. Knowing every pregnancy is different, the massage adjusts to suit the mother-to-be at the moment of her appointment. Pregnancy massages may include gentle Swedish strokes to help ease stress and tension; deep tissue techniques to help spinal muscles and joints accommodate a growing belly; and/or Lymph drainage techniques to help ease swelling in the legs and feet. A 90 minutes treatment is suggested. Infants receive the gentlest of Swedish strokes to soothe colic, aid digestion, and increase circulation. Even swaddled arms and legs need to be stretched! This massage is great for those new to life, and finding it hard to adjust. This 30 minute treatment is often followed by a nap! MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE- MLD is a very gentle treatment that improves the function of the lymphatic system throughout the body. MLD is becoming widely recognized in the US as a treatment for many pathologies including post surgical swelling, post traumatic edema (sports injuries). migraine headaches, rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia. MLD is further used to promote general relaxation and for cleansing (detoxification) of the skin and superficial fascia. In lymphedema therapy, MLD is used to reroute the lymph flow around blocked areas into healthy lymph vessels. –Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy EAR CANDLING- is an ancient technique used to encourage a clean, healthy environment in the ears with benefits to the sinuses and throat. This modality may ease the discomforts of “itchy ears”, tinnitus, sinusitis, post nasal drip, migraines, and vertigo. This treatment includes two candles per ear and light massage to the face and neck, promoting drainage and relief.
