Boost Shine with These DIY Hair Masks
If your hair is looking a little lackluster and you can’t get to the salon right away for a hair treatment, we’ve got the solution for you. You can give your shine a boost and bring your locks back to life with these simple DIY hair masks. They use ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
Dry Hair Repair
If your mane is in need of some serious TLC this is the one for you. Combine 2 eggs with 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Apply and leave on your hair for 20 minutes before washing out. The olive oil will provide hydration, while the protein from the eggs will strengthen and nourish to promote healthy hair growth.
Frizz or a Flaky Scalp
If you’re battling frizz or a dry flaky scalp, grab a banana. Yes, a banana. Bananas will moisturize and soothe a dry flaky scalp as well as smooth frizz. Mash together 1/2 of a ripe banana, a few drops of almond oil, and 2 tablespoons honey. Apply evenly throughout the hair, taking care to work it into the scalp. Cover with a shower cap for 20 minutes, and then wash out.
Oily Hair
Mix ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar with the grated peel of a whole lemon. Apply to your hair and leave it in for 15 minutes before rinsing. The lemon and vinegar will help to remove buildup without amping up oil production while adding shine to dull hair.
All Hair Types
No matter your hair type this mask will nourish your hair with vitamins and protein while also boosting shine. Scoop out the flesh of half of a ripe avocado and mash together with 2 tablespoons of honey. Apply evenly and leave in place for 20 minutes before rinsing in the shower.
