Why a Career in Cosmetology is a Great Option and What We Offer
Let’s face it, not everyone is cut out to sit behind a desk working a 9 to 5 job Monday through Friday. Some prefer more social interaction, to help others, to be on the move or to have a more flexible schedule. If that’s you then a career in cosmetology might be just what you need.
Flexible schedules are something many people desire but can’t always find. Cosmetology is a great career choice if you want an occupation that you can work the hours you want. Granted, this depends on where you’re working or if you’re self-employed. Some salons will require specific hours so they have coverage while others let you set your own schedule. Of course, if you work for yourself you can do what is best for you and this appeals to many.
The career opportunities might be what draws you in with this career choice as well. You can work anywhere you want with this training; the possibilities are endless. You can stay where are you, move anywhere in the world or be an editorial stylist working in film, TV or on photo shoots. Sounds exciting, right?!
Maybe expressing your creativity and being social with clientele is what appeals to you. This can come into play in all facets of cosmetology so whichever avenue you choose, whether you’re into hair, nails or makeup, you’re bound to be able to let your creative juices flow. And if you love to talk then this is right up your alley because you will meet new and interesting people all the time and you’ll be able to develop social relationships with your repeat customers.
Classes in our cosmetology program include obvious aspects such as hair care, nail care, skincare, and makeup but also things such as chemistry, anatomy and physiology, state laws, rules, and board procedures, business management and resume writing and interviewing. And don’t worry, you don’t start off practicing on clients so there’s no need to stress. In the beginning, you will work on mannequins and by the end, you will be comfortable taking on actual clients.
During the course of your study, you will complete a minimum of 975 hours of theory and 475 performances in various procedures and processes. We ensure our students have all the tools they need to be successful when they finish our program.
